Simple DIY Hobby Lobby shelf for a fraction of the price of a IKEA look alike!
If you don’t have an IKEA near you or you have a budget in mind this Simple DIY Shelf | IKEA look a like is for you! I had this vision in my head for my daughter’s shelves but the ones I kept seeing that I loved were from IKEA.
Our IKEA is 2 hours away and thats not always ideal when you have two littles that aren’t particularly fond of longer car rides. So I was determined to recreate those shelves on my own but I wasn’t willing to pay more than the IKEA ones.
I searched high and low for these IKEA BURHULT / EKBY VALTER look alike. Lowe’s, Home Depot, Target & Walmart didn’t have anything that came close to what I was looking for. Everything that I priced out was well close to $100.
Then I checked Hobby Lobby, the DIY holy grail! Hobby Lobby has a whole section of raw wood items. From shelves to wood boxes and crates. Finally I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. Best yet it was 40% off.
Watch the video below to see the whole process of painting and styling these shelves! In the video you will also learn what not to do & learn from my mistakes lol!
